The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr Bayo Lawal has described the state as the least state with violence.
Lawal stated this while declaring opened the 2022 press week of the Oyo State council of NUJ held at the press council, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The Deputy Governor who was at the event to represent his Boss, Seyi Makinde called on journalists to effectively report every processes of election and stand against injustice during the 2022 general elections.
In his lecture, Prof Albert Olawale admonished no journalists to be cautious in their reportage and not to throw the nation into more troubles.
He said the new media which has also been part of present day media has done more harms to Nigeria than good.
In his comment, former Oyo State governor, Sen Rashidi Ladoja urged journalists in the state to collaborate with other stakeholders in ensuring Nigeria democracy is sustained.
Also, a member of the Oyo State Governor’s advisory council, Sen Monsurat Sumonu and Onitede of Tede commended journalists in Oyo state for their good works.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Oyo State governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa described journalists as partners in progress in developing the nations.
Earlier, the chairman, Nigeria Union of journalists Oyo State Council, Ademola Babalola said the event would help in reshaping the knowledge of journalists.
Also present at the event included Oyo State commissioner for information and culture, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun and commissioner for trade and investment, Chief Bayo Lawal.
