Oyo Govt Tasks Stakeholders On Proper Maintenance Of PHCs Across The State

Oyo state government on Monday, tasked various health stakeholders in maintaining the facilities provided in the primary Health Care Centers built across the wards of the State.
The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo-Lawal, while launching the Oyo State Maintenance Manual for Primary Healthcare Centers, held at the Conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
The Deputy Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bode Ladipo, said it is time the citizens supported the government in ensuring that the facilities provided for them are protected to serve their purposes.
While admonishing the state health stakeholders to have a maintenance culture habit, the Deputy Governor pledged that the present administration would provide the necessary Healthcare Services to its People, irrespective of their locations.
In her remarks, the special Adviser to the governor on Health, Dr.Funmi Salami, the event was meant to introduce a new maintenance handbook for newly renovated or newly built primary healthcare centers in Oyo State.
She explained that the state government is working to deliver its mandate of quality healthcare to all citizens of Oyo State through the renovation of 351 primary health care centers (one PHC per ward) across the state to category 3 PHCs.
Earlier, the
Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Muideen Olatunji, commended governor Seyi Makinde for being pragmatic in solving the health issues in the state.
He, however, charged other health stakeholders to reciprocate the good gesture by ensuring that the facilities provided are in condition.
The Stakeholders at the event include: Special Assistant on Environment (Technical lead Governor’s PHC renovation steering committee), Engr. Ademola Aderinto, Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Health and Local Government, ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda; ALGON executives, ES Primary Healthcare board, Dr. M.B Olatunji; ES OYISHA, Dr. Sola Akande WDC zonal chairmen, Local government Medical officers of Health, Provost college of Nursing and Midwifery, Provost college of Health science and technology.
