The Authentic Mogaji’s of Ibadanland has throw their weight behind the review of Ibadan Chieftancy Law.

Speaking on behalf of the Mogajis, it’s spokesperson, Mogaji Olawale Oladoja stated that the review and it’s recommendations are in accordance with due process.

Mogaji Oladoja who is also the Mogaji of Akinsola’s compound said not only that the covering letter emanated from the palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lekan Balogun, Okumade 11, the king also approves the letter according to a palace source.

Mogaji Oladoja added that rising from the meeting of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis held on Tuesday which ended very late into the night, the group supported the move by the Governor even though he was not the one that initiated the move.

He disclosed that the request letter emanated from the high chiefs and was sent to the Governor for Oyo state for his assent.

He stated that the major difference between the current review and that of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi was that, Ajimobi then never followed a due process which made the then Olubadan Late Oba Soliu Adetunji to rejected the request back then

Oladoja stated that development will further elevate and promote Ibadan cultural heritage.

Mogaji Oladoja then frown at a section of the law which allowed enthronement of Baale’s without the consent of the Mogajis.

He urged Governor Seyi Makinde to look critically into such section and allow Mogajis to also have input in such decision.

The group believes as Mogajis, they are in the best position to know the true identity of any Baale before such is entrone.

He called on the people of Ibadanland to cooperate and can also get involved in the ongoing public hearing of the law review at the state house of assembly.
