The immediate past Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has mourned the demise of a renowned traditional ruler in Osun, the Elende of Eko-Ende, Oba Rauf Olaniyan Olaigbo VIII, and wife of Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaja Aminat Olatunde Badmus who passed this week.

Oyetola expressed his heart-felt condolences to Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus over the death of his wife just as he commiserated with the wife of the late monarch, Olori Silifat Olaniyan, his children as well as sons and daughters of the ancient town of Eko-Ende on the demise of the respected traditional ruler.

Oba Olaniyan, aged 77, reportedly joined his ancestors after a brief illness, on Sunday, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos State.

Similarly, Alhaja Aminat Badmus passed on, on Sunday in Osogbo, the State capital.

Oyetola, in a statement by his media aide, Ismail Omipidan, described the deaths of the monarch and Alhaja Badmus as a ‘rude shock’, saying their demise came at a time their repository of knowledge was needed most not only in the state but the nation at large.

Oyetola, who prayed God for the repose of the souls of the departed said, “Indeed, the deceased dedicated their entire lives to the service of God and humanity as manifested in their worthwhile and fruitful existence while on this planet earth.”

Oyetola called on the bereaved families particularly their spouses and children to take solace in the fact that they lived fulfilled and exemplary life that is worthy of emulation.

“On behalf of my family, I commiserate with the wife and children of our revered monarch, late Oba Olaniyan, sons and daughters of the ancient town of Eko-Ende on the transition of our revered father. I equally express my deepest condolence to Asiwaju Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus over the death of his dear wife.

“I pray Almighty Allah to grand the souls of the deceased eternal rest in Aljana fridaus as I beseech Him to bestow on the bereaved families the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses,” Oyetola prayed.
