The President, Peter Olaoluwa Foundation (POF), Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi, popularly called OPA, has called for immediate overhauling of the nation’s correctional centre.
Olaoluwa made this call in a message sent to the annual fundraising dinner to support the prison welfare apostolate of JPDC, Ibadan held at Travers Hall, JDPC, Bashorun, Ibadan.
Olaoluwa, whose message was delivered by the director of media and publicity, JDPC, Lekan Shobo Shobowale, explained that more than before, the overhauling becomes so important.
OPA said the present condition of prisons across the country calls for concern from every well-meaning Nigerians and should be given priority by authorities concerned.
He commended the Catholic Diocese of Ibadan for the good works of humanity it’s doing through JDPC and calls for more support even as he also donated a cash gift in the support of the work.
Earlier, the Metropolitan Bishop of Ibadan Catholic, Most Rev Gabriel Abegunrin disclosed that the church through JDPC will not relent in assisting the needy in the society.
He expressed surprise to the increasing numbers of inmates across Nigeria Correctional Centres urging the judiciary to step up its role in order to further decongest the Centres.
