Troops from the joint task force, Operations Hadin Kai, have killed sixteen Boko Haram terrorists who were trying to infiltrate the 25 Taskforce Brigade headquarters in Damboa near Sambisa Forest.

The troops of the Taskforce Brigade, in collaboration with members of the civilian joint task force, also seized weapons and materials used for making IEDs during the operations.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Friday (today) when troops spotted a group of terrorists and quickly launched continuous indirect fire against them. After about two hours of intense confrontation, the terrorists were compelled to retreat.

Several of the terrorists managed to escape despite sustaining different levels of injuries, while 16 were successfully neutralized.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the spokesperson for Northeast Joint Taskforce Operations Hadin Kai, confirmed to Channels Television that the incident’s success was supported by the prompt intervention of the Joint Taskforce’s air component.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya also mentioned that troops have ramped up their offensive against the terrorists by advancing into the forest, aiming to neutralize more of them.

According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, troops reacted to new intelligence regarding insurgents attempting to steal food supplies from a civilian vehicle near Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government Area.

In the encounter, six terrorists were neutralized and authorities seized one AK-47 rifle along with ammunition.

In a separate operation, troops from the Forward Operation Base Molai collaborated with the CJTF to launch an ambush at a terrorist crossing point near Komala on the Maiduguri-Damboa Road.

The strike incapacitated an unspecified number of insurgents and resulted in the recovery of motorcycles, IED components, and other materials on Thursday.
