New Naira Note: Protest Rocks Ibadan, Agodi Police Station Razed, Bank Vandalised

Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Friday morning witnessed an unprecedented protest over the scarcity of new naira notes.

The protest which started around Agodi gate area saw many protesters stormed major streets to protest the unavailability of new naira note.

The protesters moved towards Agodi-Gate, NTA road, Secreatariat, Iwo Road, Mokola and Challenge, all in Ibadan.

At the Oyo State Secretariat, the crowd forced their way into the premises leaving the police unaware and it took the efforts of operatives of Amotekun to intervened and brought the situation under control.

A police officer who is one of the security at the at the Governor’s Office, Inspector Dynasty Layemo, was injured during the attack.

There were burning of tyres virtually in all the streets of Ibadan with people identifying with the protesters with a sign of leaves in their hands and front of their cars.

Also, Agodi Gate police station and a commercial Bank located around gate was razed and Vandalised respectfully.
