Implement UNESCO Recommendation On Budgetary Allocation To Education, Reknown Islamic Scholar, Olagoke Counsels FG, States

Prominent Islamic Cleric and Founder, Spiritual Head, Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide, Prof (Engr) Sabitu Ariyo Olagoke has called on the Federal and State governments to implement the UNESCO recommended budgetary allocation to the education sector.
Prof Engr Sabitu Olagoke gave this counsel this at the 40th anniversary of Shafaudeen in Islam and also 25th Walimat’l Quran held at its international headquarters, Wakajaiye Ibadan.
He said it is important for government at all levels to ensure implementation of this recommendation for effective and functional education in order to bring about the much expected national development.
Prof Engr Olagoke said over Thirty years after the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, recommended that developing nations give up to 25 per cent of their annual budget to public education, Nigeria’s allocation to the sector is still less than 10 per cent.
The cleric said of over N55 trillion allocated to the education sector by the federal government in the last ten years only N4 trillion had been given the sector, and this represents less than ten per cent.
Prof Olagoke called for functional education with the support from all levels of government while also paying attention to the general growth of a child.
The cleric added that parental care must also be given priority while children must at all times obey and respect their parents in order for them to reap the blessings of Allah.
While addressing the Walimot Quran graduands, Prof Olagoke called on them to ensure that every of the quranic teaching they went through reflected in their day to day activities.
Speaking on behalf of the new title holders, Engr Baliqis Olagoke Adediran who also doubles as the daughter of the founder and spiritual head promised that they will work in accordance to the teachings of Allah in their new assignment.
Some of the members of Shafaudeen in who Islam whom spoke with journalists expressed their delight and described founder of Shafaudeen in Islam worldwide, Prof Engr Sabitu Olagoke as a worthy leader and mentor.
The event also features inauguration of Shafaudeen Ambassadors among others.
