How Soldiers Repelled Heavily Armed Bank Robbers in Ayingba

In a display of bravery and gallantry, troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, foiled a coordinated robbery of banks in Ayingba, Kogi State.

Five of the heavily armed robbers were reported neutralized by the troops.

The breathtaking incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 7th of March 2024 , when robbers attempted to raid banks in the town.

According to eyewitnesses, the armed robbers, numbering over a dozen and wielding sophisticated weapons, stormed the town with the intention of carrying out a large-scale robbery on the banks.

Frightened members of the public including some policemen guarding the banks scurried for safety while the audacious criminals confidently made for the banks.

Their plans were however thwarted by the swift response of troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army stationed in the area.

Led by battle-ready officers, the troops engaged the robbers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat and abandon their nefarious mission.

The eye witnesses who were in awe of the bravery of the troops narrated that despite being outnumbered, the soldiers demonstrated exceptional courage and tactical prowess effectively neutralizing the threat posed by the criminals as 5 of the robbers were killed, 2 AK rifles and 3 vehicles were recovered.

Zagazola Makama understood that there were no reported casualties among the troops, while the robbers suffered significant losses, with some of them believed to have escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.

Appreciative residents of Ayingba expressed their gratitude to the soldiers for their swift response and decisive action, which undoubtedly saved lives and prevented further chaos in the town.

Some of the residents were overheard praising the soldiers for their selflessness and dedication to duty.
