Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, a work-free day across the state in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447A

This was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo.

According to the statement, the work-free day is to allow Muslim faithful and other residents to observe and reflect on the spiritual significance of the new Islamic calendar year.

Makinde urged all residents to seize the occasion to pray for lasting peace, unity, and prosperity in Oyo State and the nation at large.

“The governor enjoined all and sundry to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the state in particular, and the country in general,” the circular said.

The directive applies to all public offices and institutions across the state, while relevant agencies and media outlets have been urged to ensure wide dissemination of the announcement.
