Hertha Berlin will prepare for their upcoming Bundesliga relegation play-off tie with a short training camp outside the German capital, the club said on Sunday.
The team is to prepare at the Kienbaum training centre for the May 19 and 23 games against the third-placed team from the second division.
Hertha slipped into third last in the Bundesliga on the final matchday Saturday with a 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund coupled with a 2-1 injury time win over Cologne for VfB Stuttgart who saved themselves with it.
“The lads have to believe that they can do it. It’s our job now to build them back up again and help them over the line,” general manager Fredi Bobic said.
“They’ll need to work with passion once again and then deal with their opponents, no matter who that may be.”
Hertha said that goalkeeper Marcel Lotka is doubtful for the home leg on Thursday because he suffered light concussion and broke his nose when he collided with a goalpost during Saturday’s game which he completed.
Dortmund’s opponents in the play-offs will be either Werder Bremen, SV Hamburg or Darmstadt.
A meeting with Hamburg would be a delicate affair for Hertha coach Felix Magth because he played at Hamburg for 10 years and won several titles with them including the 1983 European Cup, scoring the 1-0 winner in the final against Juventus.
