Africa’s richest man and foremost industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will deliver the Keynote Aaddress at the 9th Anniversary Lecture and Award Ceremony of the South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in Ibadan.
The event will hold at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, starting at 2:00 PM.
According to a statement jointly signed by SWEGOP Chairman, Bisi Oladele, and Publicity Secretary, Remi Oladoye, the anniversary lecture will also feature Professor Adeolu Akande, former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), as Guest Lecturer.
Dangote is expected to share insights on the intersection of industry, media, and national development, while Prof. Akande will address critical issues around digital publishing, policy, and democratic accountability.
The anniversary ceremony will celebrate excellence in digital publishing and recognize individuals and institutions for their significant contributions to journalism, governance, and national development.
SWEGOP anniversary remains one of the guild’s flagship events, celebrating excellence in online journalism while recognizing individuals and institutions that have contributed significantly to governance and national development.
This year’s awardees include Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation; Mogaji Wole Arisekola, businessman and media entrepreneur; and Dr. Babatunde Olomu, Customs Area Controller, Apapa Port Command.
The statement emphasized SWEGOP’s commitment to using digital media to advance transparency, accountability, and democratic engagement in Nigeria.
“SWEGOP (with our online media platforms) is still focused on highlighting the evolving role of digital media in advancing transparency, accountability, and democratic engagement in Nigeria,” concluded the statement.
