Following a report trending on social media on Monday, that Dangote refinery requested court to annulled the import licenses held by NNPCL, Matrix, and four other companies, Dangote, through its Group Chief Branding And Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina has denied the report.

In a release late Monday night, Dangote Group said the case is an old issue that started in June and culminated in a matter being filed on September 6, 2024.

It explained that the parties are currently in discussion since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive on Crude Oil and Refined Product Sales in Naira initiative, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council.

“We have made tremendous progress in that regard, and events have overtaken the development.

“No party has been served with court processes in that regard, and events have overtaken the development.”

It will be recalled that a report yesterday said Dangote Refinery has petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja to annul the import licenses granted to the NNPC, Matrix Petroleum Services Limited, A. A. Rano, “despite the production of AGO and Jet-A1 that exceeds the current daily consumption of petroleum products in Nigeria by the Dangote Refinery.”

In case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1324/2024, Dangote Refinery is pursuing N100 billion in damages from the NMDPRA. They allege that the NMDPRA has been improperly granting import licenses to NNPCL, Matrix Energy, and other firms for the importation of petroleum products, including AGO, and Jet Fuel, into Nigeria.
