Oriyomi Hamzat, broadcaster and proprietor of Agidigbo FM, who was arrested and moved to Abuja yesterday, has been released, one of his staff confirmed this to a journalist in Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo state this morning.
“Oga will reunite with us today. He will Ibadan from Abuja any moment from now,” an elated staff told this newspaper.
But in a video shared this morning, Oriyomi was seen alighting from Overland Airways and with enthusiasts waiting outside the arrival hall.
Oriyomi was yesterday reported having been invited, arrested and whisked to Abuja, without anybody knowing his offence.
He said he was arrested in connection to his continued reportage of the death of Timothy, a master’s student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, at one of the hotels belonging to the Maye of Ife, Ramon Adedoyin.
The police, in its reaction to Hamzat’s ordeal, said the broadcaster was arrested in connection with what it called cyberbullying.
