Team Osun has officially opened its gold medal account at the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged “Gateway Games,” thanks to a stellar performance in female weightlifting.
Islamia Yusuf delivered a historic moment for Team Osun by clinching the gold medal in the 71kg snatch category. Her outstanding lift secured the state’s first top-podium finish of the tournament and set the tone for more victories ahead.
Islamiyat Yusuf is still in contention in other weightlifting categories, and the team remains hopeful for additional medals as the competition progresses.
