An aspirant for Ido state constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder Opeyemi Semiu Foundation (OSF) Hon Semiu Folarin has resigned his membership of the party.
Folarin who contested the May 2021 local government election in Oyo State on the platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and won majority of votes cast but was denied by the ruling PDP government announced his decision to dump the party in a statement on Monday and officially joined New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and has already obtained the nomination form for the Ido state constituency.
Folarin said he ceased to be a member of the APC so as not to be a party to what he described as an undemocratic process in the party.
“Let me formally inform thousands of my members in Ido constituency that I had finally resigned my membership of APC after wide consultations.
After critically considered the situation of the party, I hereby announce to you that henceforth, I Semiu Opeyemi Folarin cease to be a party to the undemocratic process APC and therefore had moved to a new party destined for greatness to pursue my political agenda come 2023.
According to Hon Folarin, “my moving on to NNPP is due to the assurance and support from the Southwest leader of our great party, NNPP, Chief Adebisi Olopoeyan, a well respected party man who had been a source of blessing to many upcoming politicians. I believe going forward, it is a New Dawn for the people of Ido state constituency.”
The party APC, i joined years ago and since then have always been a financial and active member until now.”
Hon Folarin assured his teeming supporters of better deals in NNPP as dividends of democracy after his election as a member representing Ido state constituency come 2023 God’s Willing.
