Two people were reported to had been killed during a cult-related violence in Abeokuta causing panic among residents.
According to source, a suspected leader of one of the cult group, known as Oloba (Dare), was fatally shot by a rival cult group around Ijeja area of the town.
This is coming after serious of clashes among cult groups in Ogun State last year which also led to multiple casualties in various areas, particularly Sagamu and Abeokuta both in Ogun State.
The violence continued as another suspected cultist, Tayo Alora, was murdered in the Isabo area on Sunday morning.
It was reported that Alora was seemingly trailed and ambushed without any prior confrontation.
Expressing concern, a resident of the area emphasized the need for government intervention to prevent further escalation.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incidents. She assured the public that a discreet investigation is underway, and vowed to apprehend all those involved in the violent acts.
However, further details are pending as the police spokesperson promised to provide additional information in a follow-up call.
