One of the strongest allies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ondo State may have gotten to nod to clinch the Deputy Governorship Seat in Ondo State following the emergence former Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as Executive Governor of Ondo State in a move necessitated by the unfortunate demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Hon. (Dr) Thomas Akinwolere Babajide popularly known as APATA is a strong voice for the youths in Ondo State who also strongly supported the Presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election campaign period. He is the Director-General of the Coalition of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (COSGABAT) with over 300 support groups nationwide under his watch.
Dr. Babajide emerges from Ondo Central Senatorial District, precisely Ondo Town of Ondo West which is seen as the boiling point which has always determined where the pendulum swings in terms of election result in the history of Ondo State. More importantly, he is a young man who is under the age of 40, but has gathered incredible experiences in governance.
He has also worked actively and supported the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State and at National level. He was a member of the AKETI/AIYEDATIWA campaign council in 2019 and also a member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in 2023.
The odds may be in favour of Dr. Babajide to emerge as Deputy Governor of Ondo State within the next few weeks as the Governor is being urged to consider a young person from Ondo Town precisely. Dr. Babajide also reportedly has the endorsement of the President as well as the backing of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
