..Fubara stops council chairmen from appearing before lawmakers
VICTOR Oko Jumbo, representing Bonny Constituency, has emerged as a factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly thereby introducing a new twist to the crisis rocking the state.
The latest development could only mean one thing, the total collapse of the peace deal brokered between the parties by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu effectively returning all involved in the impasse to the trenches.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday barred all heads and officials of the 23 local government areas in the state from appearing before the Rivers Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule. The lawmakers are believed to be loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The governor minced no words when he warned that any chairman or council official who appeared before the lawmakers risk being sacked.
Though elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) they have since renounced the party for the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).
