A former majority leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Kehinde Subair has described the late former governor of the state, Alhaji Onaolapo Lamidi Adesina as a rare gift to the state and Nation at large.
Subair stated this in a release on Monday to mark the 12th anniversary of the late former governor.
The one time majority leader said the exit of Alhaji Lam Adesina remains a“big loss to the Nigerian democracy. In particular, Oyo state.”
He said Adesina was one of the heroes who fought tooth and nail for the return of democracy in 1999 which a lot of people are today enjoying.
He further described Adesina as a committed Awoist who practised and defended the ideals of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo till he (Adesina) breathed his last.
Subair said Adesina’s tenure as Oyo governor between 1999 and 2003 on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) witnessed implementation of masses-oriented policies which positively touched the citizenry.
“As one of the elected officials under the administration of former late Governor, I can attest to it that our late leader put Oyo State on the path of greatness.
“No doubt, his absence is greatly missed by all and we will continue to immortalise him through his legacies.”
