The Oyo state Governorship hopeful in the All Progresseive Congress (APC), Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi, popularly called OPA, has counselled the state government on the need to to be more proactive in its handling of fire incident in the state.
Olaoluwa while commiserating with those that lost their means of livelihood and also the injured expressed worry over incessant fire incident in the state in the last few weeks.
The Chartered Accountant turned politician said if the state government through the fire service has been living up to expectations, the continued occurrences would had been nipped in the bud.
He urged those that are saddled with such responsibility to wake and save residents of the state from the calamity.
According to him, “it’s not just enough for government to be sympathising with the affected everytime but it beacons on them to put measure in place to guard against its continued occurence.
“Let me use this medium to advise the state government and its agencies to wake up and see beyond the mere rhetorics of condoling with victims and do the needful, may God heal the injured and provide succour to that had lost their means of live hood in the sad event.”
It will be recalled that a petroleum laden tanker caught fire on Saturday at Iyana Ajia in Egbeda local government area of Ibadan.
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon.
At the scene, 4 trucks were completely destroyed, 1 petroleum truck, 1 18-passenger bus, 1 small truck, 1 micra, while some passengers also sustained various degree of injuries.
