..picks nomination form amidst pomp and pageantry
The foremost APC aspirant for the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election, Professor Senator Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, says he is confident the party will conduct proper primaries devoid of undueinfluence and manipulations.
The former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria made this observation earlier today at the APC National Secretariat, Wuse 2, Abuja, after picking up his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the much anticipated primaries in February.
“Now we have taken the first step. We will not look back. Rather, we are lookingforward to the direct primaries promised us by the leadership of the party. I am confident that the party will conduct proper primaries devoid of undue influence and manipulations,” said the man who is looked upon by all Edo State citizens to restore glory to the state.
Accompanied by his stunning wife, Lady Usieh Osunbor, the professor of law and his teeming supporters approached the venue amid dancing, drumming, and singing “On your mandate, we shall stand,” a song synonimous with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator Osunbor said he was the candidate to beat at the governorship election in September because all Edo people desire to have him back in office, given his excellent performance as the Executive Governor of the state from 2007 to 2008, which is why he has christened his manifesto “The Rebirth of Edo for Excellence,” which has since been gaining traction across the state.
He said, “My popularity and acceptability spread across the threeSenatorial Districts of Edo State and even beyond the APC.I know that my supporters, well-wishers, and all people of goodwill across Edo Stateand beyond will be elated and relieved to see me here at the APC NationalSecretariat to collect these forms.
“Edo people are yearning for good governance.They want to see Edo State resources being used to develop the state and transformthe lives of the people for the better. They are waiting to give me a resoundingvictory in the September 21 governorship election.
“They remember very well my excellent performance as governor for 17 months.from 2007 to 2008 and want to see me back in Osadebe Avenue as governor-henceI have christened my manifesto: THE REBIRTH OF EDO FOR EXCELLENCE.”
Senator Osunbor said the governorship election on September 21 will be on the knife’s edge for the APC and that the party will not repeat of 2020, when the PDP took over the reins.
“For many of us, this coming election is a must-win for the Edo State APC. Noimpediment, no matter how contrived and from whatever source, can stop our greatparty APC from reclaiming Edo in 2024. The mistakes that caused APC to lose theThe state of the PDP in 2020 must not be allowed to afflict us a second time. For APC as aparty, Edo State is a low-hanging fruit. We must not lose this opportunity to reclaimit with me as a candidate.By the grace of God, our victory is sure,” he added.
After several months of intense political manoeuvring that witnessed brazen attempts to undermine entrenched rules governing the exercise, the Edo APC flung the gate open to all 29 aspirants to pick up their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at its Abuja secretariat.
No doubt, today’s event is a welcome development for most citizens of Edo State across political divides who are openly expressing their belief in Osunbor, the aspirant they can trust the most, given his credibility, experience, and high sense of responsiveness to their plight in of his previous assignments.
