Following the recent intervention by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU is expected to called off it’s eight month old strike off this morning.
Even though the union is yet to make any official announcement, but it was reliably gathered that the decision was taken at the end of the National Executive Council meeting which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja.
A reliable source who also present at the meeting said, it is true that the strike has been called off at the instance of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
When asked for more details, the source said, “the president will release an official circular in the morning”.
It would be recalled that the academic union embarked on a strike on Monday, February 14, 2022.
