The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, along with 21 other lawmakers, on Monday, formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the plenary, Speaker Guwor announced the receipt of 21 letters from members of the House declaring their intention to leave the PDP. He also formally presented his own letter of defection.
Guwor stated that the decision was taken unanimously, citing unresolved divisions within the PDP’s South-South Zonal Executive and the deepening crisis at the party’s national level.
“With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House,” the Speaker declared.
